Where am I off to this week?
From Seattle, Washington, I drove to the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon, to work out of CENTRL Office.
Where is it?
So why did I choose CENTRL Office?
On their website, they described their space as:
a hotel with no beds.
a house without the barking dog.
a pub without the drunks.
a coffee shop with meeting rooms.
Once I read this, I knew I had to check it out. I reached out to the folks at CENTRL Office and they invited me to work there for the week.
I arrived first thing Monday morning.
Lauren, the Community Manager, was already working through her tasks for the day. She helped me connect to the WIFI, showed me around, and helped me get setup. It didn’t take long for me to notice that everything seemed to run smoothly. This space had the best management and processes that I’d ever seen. Throughout the week, Lauren and Lexie, who usually was there later in the day, kept the coffee pot full, provided recommendations, and didn’t seem to mind answering my questions about the office.
One of their best recommendations was to get lunch at the Whole Bowl. If you’re ever in Portland, Oregon, you should go. You won’t regret it.
Along with the perks of how well CENTRL Office was run, the design of the space, which was rustic and made of exposed wood beams, metal, and glass, looked great. It was full of interesting design details that tied into the old Portland vibe.
I loved the lights on these tables. They fit in well with the overall vibe of the space.
I could sit in this chair for days.
The entire building was operated by CENTRL Office and included three floors of coworking, reserved desks, offices, and event spaces. Whether you’re a solopreneur, remote worker, or a team of ten, this office has room for you to grow.
I walked to the CENTRL Office each day, put in a day of work, and was able to explore the city every night. I truly lived, worked, and played all within a two mile radius. It was fantastic.
Also, it would be wrong for me not to mention their coasters:
“This is my mug. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My mug is my best friend. It is my life.
My mug, without me, is useless. Without my mug, I am useless. I must wake with my mug in the morning, and it does not sleep until I sleep.
I will keep my mug clean and ready even as I am clean and ready.
Together, my mug and I will do great, good work.
The attention to detail at CENTRL Office is outstanding and showed the depth of their support for the community. I had a great week of coworking, discovered some really awesome businesses, and meet a number of good people that I hope to hang out with again. I look forward to watching CENTRL Office’s growth as they continue to expand in and beyond Portland.
